Developing Elite Puck-Protection and Checking Skills Clinic

Wednesday, October 11, 2017 - The Meadows East Arena (TME)

High-level hockey players can successfully maintain the puck and gain the puck back during a loss of possession. This session, taught by elite and certified Hockey Canada instructors, is for checking categories Bantam and Midget players (AAA to Tier 2) who are looking to gain a physical advantage this season. This session will aim to address the following topics:

  1. Protecting the puck is one of the most under-taught and underdeveloped skills in the game of hockey. Optimal puck protection skills create time and space for players, which increases scoring chances and effective hockey plays. Players battle hard to gain the puck back; therefore, they must do an effective job of keeping the puck.
  2. The ability to separate the man from the puck is a skill that must be mastered. Checking skills require numerous repetitions to be mastered. Mastering checking skills allows players to gain more possession of the puck throughout the game.

Each of the 1-hour sessions includes the following components for only $30.00 per session:

  • 1-hour ice-slot;
  • Low player/coach ratios (ONLY 24 player maximum capacity with 4 instructor's present/hour);
  • Elite and certified Hockey Canada instructors (see below);
