The NE601 NEZ Chaos Bantam 1 hockey team joined forces with the Edmonton Adaptive Sports Association (EASA) Storm B team to give sledge hockey a go on February 26th, at the Moyer Arena in Josephburg, Alberta.
Before breaking out into a scrimmage, the teams gathered at center ice to celebrate the occasion. The NEZ Chaos presented the EASA Storm team with a sledge and a pair of sticks purchased through funds raised at a bottle drive earlier this season.
After teams were formed with a mix of players from both clubs, the Storm players were kind enough to slow down their game to allow the Chaos crew to join in on the action. Upon experiencing this very steep learning curve, the Chaos team came away from the experience with an appreciation for the skill needed to compete in sledge hockey.
The NE601 NEZ Chaos look forward to seeing the donated sledge put to use soon and wish the EASA Storm B team the best with the rest of their season.
Hockey Edmonton is happy to see it's teams doing such good in their community!
