2022 Team Alberta U16 and U18 Female Summer Camp Invites Announced

Hockey Edmonton is proud to announce that eleven of our athletes have been invited to the Team Alberta U16 and U18 Female Summer Camp later this month.

Team Alberta’s U18 Female Summer Camp will feature four U18 AAA Edmonton Pandas, Tyra Edl, Chloe Goofers, Hailey Losing, and Sadie Makokis. The camp, which runs from July 12-17, is the first step in the selection process for the 2023 Canada Winter Games. To be invited, athletes were evaluated with their Hockey Canada-sanctioned Club Team throughout the 2021-22 season (and we would be remiss without a shoutout for our U18 AAA Panda’s phenomenal showing this year!). Following this U18 Summer Camp, players could be shortlisted for an invitation to Fall Camp in September or scouted with their club teams until the final 20-player roster for Team Alberta is named.

Team Alberta U16 Summer Development Camp will take place July 14-17, with Edmonton-representation from Layla Matthew (U18 AAA Pandas), Casey Peddle (U15 AA Pandas), Jaya Schippel (U15 AA MLAC), and Alyssa Tremblay-Houle (U15 AA Pandas). Rowan Houweling (CAC U15 AAA) and Madison Terry (MLAC U15 AAA) were also invited, but are unable to attend (and therefore are not listed on Hockey Alberta's roster). These U16 players were selected based on performances during the 2022 Alberta Challenge this past May. The U16 Summer Development Camp is where athletes train to progress within the Team Alberta program. In addition to focusing on skill development, position-specific focus, and off-ice training, the ultimate goal is the possibility of receiving a future invite to the U18 Summer Camp and other opportunities in the future.

The U18 AAA Pandas newest Head Coach, Shayna Shwetz, has also been named an Apprentice Coach for the Camps.
