The new EFHL Recreational Hockey League offers participants a less structured program with a focus on participation, fun and meeting new people. This league will follow many of the same principles of the previous Recreational League managed by Hockey Edmonton but will expand to new age groups and allow for all Minor Hockey Associations to participate.
It is a non-body checking alternative to the current mainstream hockey model. Body contact is allowed in the same manner as in U9, U11, U13 and Female divisions of play, similar to non-body checking tiers of the EFHL competitive divisions.
Registration is for any interested player in the U9 (Novice), U11 (Atom), U13 (Peewee), U15 (Bantam), U18 (Midget) and U21 (Junior) age categories as of December 31 of the current season. The program is open to all players residing in Districts, Operating Areas and Interlock MHA’s.
Registration will be done at the Association of your choice for all Associations operating within the Edmonton Federation Hockey League and offering Recreational Hockey.
Associations taking recreational hockey program registrations for 2022-23 are as follows:
Southwest Zone Hockey - accepting only U15, U18 and U21
Confederation Hockey - accepting only U9 to U13
For players who do not reside on the Southside of Edmonton, Hockey Edmonton will be taking rec league registrations so all players have the chance to play rec league hockey with EFHL for the 2022-23 season. Registration will open by August 15 and close on October 1. Please check the registration page on this website for more details.
Rec league registration for players outside the city boundary:
St. Albert Minor Hockey - accepting U11 to U18
Sherwood Park Minor Hockey - accepting all ages/divisions of play (U9 to U21) and only for residents of Sherwood Park at this time.
